Wild Turkey Trot

Spring is officially here and so is the mating season for the wild turkeys.  Each evening we watch 1 -5 mature gobblers strut for a group of 4-15 hens.  There was a light misty rain this evening when the group arrived, the hens were purring and clucking and the gobblers were answering with repeated gobbles. The hens purred and ate while the gobblers fanned their tales and drug their wings. Click on the following link to hear the hens purr – Turkey Purr The gobblers were much more interested in the hens than the hens  in the gobblers.  lick the the following link  to hear the gobble – Turkey Gobble  For more information on wild turkeys check out the The National Wild Turkey Federation website.
